The History of Chamomile Roman
Chamomile Roman essential oil, also known as Anthemis nobilis, is one of the most used species from the notorious daisy family. The origin of the word 'chamomile' derives from the Greeks. Flowers are a white to pale yellow in colour and surround the vibrant yellow heads; this is what produces the essential oil we know and love today. It tends to grow wild in temperate to warmer regions of Africa, Asia, and Europe. In Europe, the main cultivation countries include England, France and Germany.
Chamomile Roman has been documented as far back as 2000 years ago in ancient Egypt. It was used due to its healing properties against illnesses. The ancient Greeks and Romans also found great use with Chamomile and exploited its therapeutic characteristics to great extents. Today, it is more or less being used for the same reasons, with it also being applied in recent years to help with nausea, insomnia, stress and pain. It is very popular for its relaxing, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antimicrobial effects.
