The History of Ginger

Ginger Essential Oil is obtained from the root of the Zingiber officinale herb, better known as Ginger. It belongs to the plant family that includes both Turmeric and Cardamom and is indigenous to China; however, in recent times, its growth has spread to other parts of Asia, India, the Moluccas, West Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean.

For thousands of years, Ginger has been the pioneer in folk medicine for its ability to soothe inflammation, fevers, respiratory discomforts, nausea, menstrual complaints, upset stomachs and arthritis. It was traditionally used as an anti-microbial food preservative that inhibits the incubation of harmful bacteria. It has also been used as a spice for its flavouring and digestive properties. In Ayurvedic medicine, Ginger Oil has been believed to soothe emotional struggles such as nervousness, low self-confidence, and sadness.

The health benefits of Ginger Essential Oil are the same as that of the herb. The oil is even considered to be more beneficial due to its higher Gingerol content, which is most reputable for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. With a warm, woody, and spicy scent that has an energising effect, Ginger Oil has acquired the name "The Oil of Empowerment" for the feeling of confidence that it is known to spark.

Ginger in Numbers

It isn't the cheapest oil, but it is still excellent. A 10ml bottle of "The Oil of Empowerment" will currently cost you £2.95, and 1KG will only cost you £109.96.

The smell of Ginger Oil is undoubtedly unique. It has a warm spicy, woody scent with a delicate hint of lemon and pepper. In a blend, it's lovely, by itself, it isn't my cup of tea. Lemon and Ginger tea, for example, delicious!

Ginger is rather potent and has a very distinct scent that will engulf your senses.
